Typically a corporation has shareholders that own a percentage of the organization. A nonprofit corporation has no shareholders and no owners. The equivalent of a shareholder is a member. Members fulfill the role typically done by shareholders. The Board of Directors serves the members, a position on the Board must be approved by the members and does not confer “membership” status.

Members Levels Established At Founding
Original members and one level with all members receiving 1 vote was how members were defined in the By Laws.. LFI By Laws did allow for additional membership levels and voting power, created by a members vote. These have been updated by member vote 6-18-2020

Members, unless elected to the board of directors generally vote only once a year at a membership meeting.
Members can amend the By-Laws as described in the By-Laws.
